In April 2019, the At Home Care team was able to interview some of the friends, clients, and caregivers that make Manhattan the wonderful place it is!
Here’s a story from our friend Mary:
“The first time I saw Bob, I wrote my mother a letter, ‘I’m going to get a date with him.’
The second time I wrote my mother, ‘I have a date with Bob T.’ But then I made him wait two years until I would marry him.”
— Mary, age 95
During his life, Bob started and organization called Helping International Students, an organization designed to help American students befriend international students. The friendships acclimate lonely, homesick students from different cultures and help them find community and a sense of belonging in the United States. It also gives American students a chance to view the wider world through the eyes of someone from a different culture than their own.
We’re so grateful for Mary and her legacy in our community! She stays busy with her 6 children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and continues to be involved in our community and the world.
