Do you ever feel compelled to do something for others? Random acts of kindness are important to incorporate into our lives, and not to mention important to teach to our children.
The overall goal is to spread kindness to everyone, even more specifically to those who need it most.
We have gathered our favorite ways to spread kindness to the elderly folks in your life to make their day a little brighter.
- Make them a homemade card.
- Bake them their favorite cake.
- Knit them a scarf or a hat. They will appreciate the sweet thought.
- Write them a letter telling them your favorite qualities about them.
- Help them make a scrapbook of heartfelt memories.
- Do some chores around the house for them that may be difficult for them to physically do.
- Run to the grocery store for them, maybe cook them a meal.
- Give them a gift card to their favorite restaurant.
- Pay them a visit to check in and see how they’re doing.
- If you can’t physically visit, give them a call and check in.
Give them a ride if they need it and help them in and out of the car. - Help them safety proof their home to make it more easily accessible for them.
- Invite them over for dinner at your home.
- If they are physically able to, take a walk around the neighborhood with them.
- Plant flowers, vegetables or fruits in their garden so they will have fresh produce.
- If it snows, shovel their driveway for them.
- Mow their lawn.
- Bring their trash bin out to the curb.
- Bring them cookies, or their favorite dessert.
- Watch their favorite movie with them.
